Highfield St Andrew’s Scouts, from Squirrels up to young leaders, their scout leaders and parents joined the church service on Sunday morning, 29th September, to celebrate harvest. Scout gifts were piled high on the trolley and brought in to add to the various bags of goodies brought by members of the congregation. The gifts will be given to the Chesterfield Food Bank to meet the needs of local people. Each unit of the Scouts paraded their group flags and the Union Jack and all the boys and girls were smart in their uniforms. Liz Sharples led the service, and spoke about celebrating what we receive, the impact of climate change on harvests across the world and the effect of poverty on people both locally and worldwide which we are called to address. Hymns and prayers followed the same themes.
