The Mayor presents a certificate to Pippa Grimwood of St Mary’s High School at the 2024 Exhibition. Talented students of Secondary Schools across Chesterfield will once again display their artwork in St Andrew’s Church Hall in October. The Exhibition will be open from 12.00noon to 4.30pm on Saturday 19th October and 12.30 – 4.30pm on Sunday 20th. The school students, teachers and parents will gather on the Saturday morning for the opening ceremony when certificates will be presented to all those whose work is exhibited. The Exhibition is sponsored by the Chesterfield Rotary Club and St Andrew’s United Reformed Church.
Last year, despite the unprecedented heavy rainfall and serious flooding in Chesterfield, 5 of the 6 schools managed to get their artwork to the church undamaged. Some are the work of A-level exam students, while others show younger students testing out their skills in paint, drawing, craft and photography. Certificates were presented at the opening ceremony in the church to students from all the schools whose work is displayed and students, parents and friends braved the aftermath of the floods to support them. The exhibition was open on Saturday 21st October and the afternoon of Sunday 22nd October when a steady stream of visitors came to admire the work.
St Andrew’s Sunday service followed at 4.30pm when the preacher was Revd Sue Powell, who lead worship framed by a stunning portrait and a more than life size robot, Optimus Prime!
