£670 was donated at a coffee morning and sale of cakes and preserves on Saturday 16th September to raise money to support the Dancing for Health classes. It was in memory of our church elder and friend Peter Dawson, who suffered from Parkinson’s and died suddenly in May. Peter recommended St Andrew’s church hall to Tracey Barnes, Director of Dancing for Health CIC, who was looking for a suitable venue in Chesterfield to hold some Dance for Parkinson’s sessions. These have proved tremendously valuable to all the participants and the church wishes to support them and ensure they can carry on. More information about these classes can be found in the Dancing for Health news item.
The coffee morning was also be an opportunity to bring donations for the Chesterfield Food Bank. These were displayed in church on Sunday 17th September at our Harvest Festival, which will also be a Scout Church Parade.
