Children and their mothers and grandmothers gathered joyfully at St Andrew’s on 19th March, Mothering Sunday, to prepare posies of flowers. First they joined everyone else for a short time of worship when the leader, Revd Steve Fisher, encouraged everyone to think about ‘What did mothers ever do for us?’ They then rushed out to prepare their posies while Steve shared a reflection on two Bible passages – Samuel’s annointing of David as future king of Israel and Jesus giving sight to a man born blind. Steve reminded the congregation that it is vital to listen to God, to hear what God is asking of individuals and the church. The children came back in bearing baskets of flowers and gave everyone on in the congregation, men as well as women, a posy.
